Why do we buy cribs?

Yet another crib problem people forgot to mention... now that my 8 1/2 month old has 4 teeth he has starting chewing the railing on his crib. He has completely destroyed the finish on his very expensive crib. I am off to buy a teething guard for the railing today which costs less than $10. Why didn't someone try and sell me one when I bought the crib?????????

Small Miracles

So, I was chatting with my cousin the other day, telling her how my breastfed 7 month old still wakes up 2-4 times a night to feed. She said I should try giving him some cereal right before bed and Miracle of Miracles, it worked!!!! For the last three nights he has slept and I now have to wake him up early in the morning to feed so I don't explode and he goes right back to sleep. Genius! Wish I had thought of it.

New Dilemma...

So, now that the bumper pad dilemma is solved I have a new issue. A friend gave me a bicycle trailer so I could take the baby out for a ride. I was so excited to use it, I got it all cleaned up last night, pumped up the tires and practiced riding with it before I put the baby in it :) Then I noticed when I read the safety instructions that kids had to wear a bike helmet in it and be over a year old. My son is 7 months and can sit up on his own so I didn't see the problem in using it. However, after doing a little reading online I found you aren't supposed to put a helmet on a child under a year old. Apparently, a helmet is heavy on their neck and bumping up and down in the trailer isn't good for their neck either. I am only planning on riding on pavement around my subdivision - not off-roading. My husband doesn't see the harm in putting him in it. Has anyone ever used one with an infant?

Dilemmas

Well, I took my son to get his needles today and was discussing all things baby with the health nurse. I was telling her about my son getting stuck in the crib and told her I wanted to get the breathable bumper pads. She said Health Canada doesn't recommend them for under 12 months because of SIDS. She asked if it was better to have my baby break his leg in his crib or die of SIDS. REALLY? These are my choices, injury or death? What happened to a baby being safe in their crib?
So, I decided to write a blog about all those things no one tells you about being pregnant, labour and delivery, what products to buy and just being a mom in general. I will show you products I love and loathe and things I've thought looked cool until I actually tried them. I've never had a blog before, so this will be a learning experience. Enjoy!
